Government Grants: Improve Your Business with Free Grants

The main deficiency or drawback that many a small business owner faces is the crunch of funds. If you are one of them, there is some good news for you. You should be aware that for every owner and prospective beginner of a small business has an option of applying for a grant to improve upon the business. There are different types of grants available and you should be able to know which ones you are entitled to apply for by checking it out.

 

The government offers many business grants freely for the purpose of improving the business. If you feel that your business will definitely be better with some added funds for expanding the business, you need to be checking what business grants are provided to accomplish your objectives.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) provides one such business grant freely to a business that concerns with bringing in improved plans and innovations to the field of security. If you win this grant with your wonderful concepts, you will be provided with a funding of $100,000 which will help you in making your ideas come to life. This initial grant is for a period of six months which can then be extended for a period of two years and a funding of $750,000 subject to approval from the DHS.

This grant available with the DHS is supported by the Small Business Innovation Research. You need to be a business with staff strength below 500 and US based to be entitled to apply for the grant. In addition, your business should pertain to information technology, defense or marine security sectors to qualify.

You cannot find free business grants with the federal government. However, you can find many such grants being provided by the state through development organizations. These agencies that are managed by the state provide funding, incentives, training services, etc to prospective and existing businesses. Some of the states in which such grants are available can be seen in Kansas, New Hampshire, Nebraska, Utah, New Mexico, etc.

The Small Business Administration (SBA) was founded in 1953 by the U.S. government to help out small business not by offering grants but in providing the necessary support as well as training to help a small business come into existence and to help it advance. The SBA also provides financial assistance in the form of loans. The SBA is present in all the states and has come to the aid of many a small business in every part of the United States.

The growth of a business is very vital to the economy of the country. It helps by increasing employment opportunities and taxation paid to the government. For this reason, the government should provide good support to the business concerns within the country. This is made possible by the availability of business grants that are provided free. This enables prospective and existing businessmen to expand and grow.

Business grants provided by the government are meant for the purpose of making your dreams come true. Therefore, check with your government representatives if you are entitled to get a business grant that will help you accomplish your goals to improve and expand your business.
